If it is a free-standing cabinet you will just need assistance standing it in the right place, so it is ready to use. Check the individual specifications on your product before ordering, as you may need to buy separate mounts for some, whilst others have the option to be fitted to a wall. This is a fitting you can do at home with relative ease and the correct tools. Hire a professional if you are unable to safely preform the installation yourself.
We advise that you give yourself one to two hours to install your brand-new key cabinet, so that it can be done correctly.
- The fixings (they will come in the package)
- Spirit level
(Note: if it is free-standing or portable it won’t need to be mounted to a wall.)
- Before ordering, measure the length and space of the section of wall you want your key cabinet to be mounted to (in mm) and check it against our product specifications. Choose somewhere practical and accessible.
- When the cabinet arrives, hold it in position against the wall to visualise where you want to install it.
- Read the individual installation instructions that will come with your cabinet, to note requirements.
- Open your cabinet and use a pencil or chalk to make a mark on the wall through the mounting holes on the back.
- Use a spirit level to check that the key cabinet will be flat.
- Drill holes in the wall where you have made the markings.
- Don’t drill too far, as we suggest using a ¼ inch drill bit for brick walls or a 1/16-inch bit for wooden panels.
- Insert the screw through your cabinet and into the holes you have created, but only twist them roughly halfway.
- Use your spirit level to double check it’s flat and adjust if you need to.
- Fix the screws in the bottom holes, only halfway again.
- Once you have decided on the position of the product, then go ahead and drill the screws fully into the wall.
- Congratulations, your new key cabinet is now secure for you to use.
Why use a key cabinet?
Key cabinets provide you and your place of work with a secure place to store different keys. When you need access to multiple rooms, cars, drawers or doors then key cabinets are a safe and easy way to access all your keys at once. They are often numbered, and colour coded so that you can arrange them numerically and visually for logical ordering. This makes them easy to use, particularly when you have lots of keys to keep track of.
Where can key cabinets be used?
We recommend key cabinets for the home, office, hotels, and large buildings such as hospitals, dealerships and showrooms. They can be utilised in your personal life for keeping keys to your car and house, or they can prove excellent time-savers when you are running a business and in need of access to multiple keys in one space. Our heavy-duty models are perfect for staff rooms and receptions.
What key cabinet options are available?
We offer a wide range of key cabinets suited to a variety of needs, so as a customer, you know you can find what you want, and be happy with your purchase. We stock ranges that supply storage for as little as 1 key, 20 keys or 60 keys, or we can provide freestanding cabinets for larger quantities. Padlock cabinets store padlocks, which can accompany a lock cabinet. We also stock mobile carry cases for on-the-go access, and accessories for replacements or addition to your product.
